Hip Replacement ✅

Friday was my surgery to replace my right hip. The left was completed almost 6 years ago. I Left the hospital Saturday @3pm-ish, proceeded home to relax for a couple hours, then was off to St. Brendan’s annual Tailgate to enjoy a beautiful evening among friends & family watching OSU crush Nebraska. Most people that saw me said I was crazy for being there just hours after my release from the hospital.  YOLO and FOMO happen to define who I am. I’m slightly superstitious as well. I have attended each previous tailgate and we won.

I know people care about my well-being and that is what leads them to call me crazy for being at the tailgate event Saturday. My attendance at the event and/or my handling of breast cancer doesn’t make me Wonder Woman.  I may seem to be tougher than the average gal, but it’s simply due to unplanned training. I was raised to be “tough” and Mastered the game-face. I just won’t let any ailment slow be down. Therefore, if I’m out & about after a major surgery, its because I can & want to be living life to its fullest.

Sunday was spent chilling on the couch most of the day recovering and trying not to do to much. I’m required to get up and move every 45 minutes (except when sleeping) and have exercises to complete twice daily. The first time attacking the exercises Sunday morning was quite painful.  If I recall correctly from my previous hip Replacement, days 3-5 are the worst because the Anesthesia is completely out of your system and if pain meds aren’t timed right, it could make for long painful days.  So far I’ve stayed on top of the meds and have been pretty mobile around the house.

The goal is to be diligent with my exercises, walking and rest in hopes of a quick turn-around and to be walking without a walker/cane within 2 weeks, driving myself around and ready for my trip to Cabo by the end of the month.

Goodluck to me 🙂
